CAVA TECHNOLOGICAL CENTRE

The proposal for the new headquarters of Cava Technology Centre and the Regulatory Council of Cava in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia is based on respect for the existing building, the history of the place, and at the same time by a typological review strategy to win a plant to the existing building with a distinctly allusive, symbolic and artistic genres blending of the contemporary world, reflected all through the “fruit” of the deck and in the deformation secular from the courtyard or cloister inside.

The proposal is structured in 4 clear points:

Functionality: clear division between the Technology Centre in GF and F1 Cava and Headquarters Cava Regulatory Council in F2 and top without altering the external appearance of the existing building, crowned with a single representative element that overlooks the skyline.

Economy: Remodelling contained and respects the existing building with a concentration of effort and resources in a specific and representative point. In this way, the effort in resources element is intended to “grape” representative of the cover (low surface) and can use most of the economic resources to the refurbishment of the existing.

Energy savings: The covering of the courtyard and streamlined shape of the new volume facilitate air circulation, the reflection of sunlight in winter and panoramic views from the cloister at periscope mode. The existing roof is used as a storm drain for the irrigation of outdoor spaces, while the oval cover of the “grape” is the best surface for solar orientation, placing there the board and solar panels.

The HVAC system through radiant ceiling (hot and cold), connected to solar collectors, allows large energy savings by working at much lower power than usual.

Representation: A new symbol for Cava Sant Sadurní through a very controlled intervention, brief and inexpensive, but with great symbolism and representation.
